3 Remember… tú commands are used to tell someone you would address as tú to do something. Affirmative Tú Commands: Take the present tense tú form of the verb and drop the –s. Caminas Camina. Walk. Escuchas Escucha. Listen. Comes Come. Eat.

10 Los mandatos formales Formal commands are used when telling people you would address as usted or ustedes to do something.

11 When talking to one person, use the usted form: Lea el libro. Read the book. Abra la puerta. Open the door. Siga el modelo. Follow the model. No hable en clase. Dont talk in class.

12 When talking to more than one person, use the ustedes form: Limpien sus cuartos. Clean your rooms. Hagan la tarea. Do the homework. Esperen Uds.* Please wait. No lleguen tarde. Dont arrive late. Note: Adding Ud. or Uds. adds a polite tone much as the word please does in English.
