3 B oard of E uropean S tudents of T echnology BEST es una asociación internacional, voluntaria, apolítica, sin ánimo de lucro, formada por y para estudiantes europeos de carreras tecnológicas. Promovemos el intercambio de estudiantes de toda Europa con el fin de aumentar sus conocimientos en materias tecnológicas y facilitar el conocimiento de otras culturas

5 ¿Qué es BEST Valladolid? Somos el grupo local de BEST (Local Best Group ) en la Universidad de Valladolid con, ahora mismo, cerca de 35 miembros, repartidos entre las facultades de Industriales, Teleco, Informática, Politécnica, Ciencias, Forestales, y Arquitectura. Los BESTies no sólo asistimos a cursos como un estudiante másTambién organizamos los cursos de la ciudad de Valladolid y asistimos a numerosos intercambios culturales y eventos internos. También organizamos competiciones de ingeniería y foros de empleo específicos (FiBEST)

6 ¿Qué es un curso BEST? Son cursos sobre temas de carácter tecnológico, algunos de ellos muy específicos Puede asistir a ellos cualquier alumno que estudie una en una universidad en la que exista grupo BEST. Cada curso tiene asociado un tema concreto. Además de la parte académica se realizan actividades culturales y tradicionales del destino Un curso BEST permite compartir entre 7 y 10 días con gente de toda Europa, aprendiendo, divirtiéndote, conociendo otras culturas y haciendo muchos amigos! Todos los cursos están subvencionados, independientemente del solicitante

7 ¿Qué incluye un curso BEST? o - Cursos impartidos por especialistas en la materia del curso y visitas guiadas a compañías relacionadas con el tema. - Alojamiento - 3 Comidas diarias - Transporte en la ciudad de destino o viajes durante el curso ¿Qué NO incluye un curso BEST? - Transporte hasta la ciudad de destino - Gastos que hagas en la ciudad (compras..)

8 Y todo esto…¿Por cuánto? Para cualquier curso BEST existe un máximo de 50 euros dependiendo de la procedencia de los estudiantes. Para los estudiantes españoles la fee es de 36 euros máximo Con esto queda cubierto TODO lo dicho anteriormente. ¿Es una broma? ¿Porqué sólo ese precio? Cada LBG organiza a lo largo del año diferentes eventos para obtener el dinero necesario para financiar el curso que organice. También se obtienen diferentes subvenciones de la universidad y empresas privadas que están asociadas con la organización.

9 ¿QUIÉN? -Estudiantes en cuya universidad haya un grupo BEST. ¿CUANTOS? -Hasta 3 cursos BEST o competiciones de ingeniería + hasta 3 eventos de ocio + todos los cursos Bonding que quieras. ¿HAY UN MÁXIMO? - Hasta 3 cursos BEST en toda tu carrera. (2 como máximo en estaciones de verano, y 1 como máximo por estación). - A todos los que quiera de Ocio y de Bonding.

29 ¿Cómo se valida una cuenta? Escribe un email a: valladolid-cursos@BESTspain.es -ADJUNTANDO: --Una copia de tu matricula en la Uva de este año. --Algo que acredite tu nivel de inglés.

30 No tengo certificados de inglés ¿Qué hago? ¡NO TE PREOCUPES! Te haremos una sencilla prueba para ver que te manejas hablando. ;) Escríbenos a valladolid-cursos@BESTspain.es y quedaremos para hacerla cuando puedas.

35 Ante todo, piensa que la carta la van a leer los estudiantes que te acogerán en la ciudad que has elegido, por lo tanto, no tiene que ser muy seria. Debes parecer simpático y original Piensa qué te gustaría leer a ti si tuvieses que escoger a alguien para convivir durante 10 días. Se natural, evita formalismos y muestra buen humor, buen rollo! ;D Ten en cuenta que tu carta tiene que destacar entre cientos de ellas, así que sé ORIGINAL!!!!

37 Infórmate sobre el curso al que vas, en www.BEST.eu.org/events allí también encontrarás el enlace a la página web externa www.BEST.eu.org/events Tu carta debe resultar llamativa, pero ten cuidado con la extensión! De nada sirve ser gracioso si tu carta es larguísima, no la leerán con detenimiento. No hables sólo de los estudios… creerán que eres un empollón aburrido!!! No hables sólo de la fiesta… te tomarán por un fiestero que no irá a clase!!!

39 WORK HARD PARTY HARDER! El participante perfecto es aquel que se levanta el primero por la mañana y se acuesta el último por las noches! Es importante que hables de tus ganas de conocer gente y pasarlo genial, de que te gusta salir con amigos..etc Pero también es importante que demuestres interés en el curso y las visitas culturales, si todo es fiesta, no vale ;)

40 Siempre es bueno demostrar interés por el sitio al que vas a ir, pero NO hables sólo de la ciudad Escribe la carta TÚ: si te eligen, ¡que sea por ti mismo! Ten cuidado de enviar cada carta a su destino: ¡no las mezcles! Envía la carta a tiempo para evitar imprevistos de última hora. No la escribas en el último minuto… ES EL ÚNICO CRITERIO DE SELECCIÓN ¡ESFUERZATE!

41 Spring08 Valladolid - Environment, Safety and Telecommunications: Could they travel in the same car? Hola BESTies! :D Qué tal en Valladolid? Soy una chica de Zagreb, Croatia y estoy perfecta por su curso! :) Por qué? Porque tengo mucha gana a conocer la gente de toda la Europa, porque quiero salir cada dia y ademas, a mi me gusta la tema y siempre quierro aprender algo nuevo! :))) También estoy enamorada de España, de la gente y la clima, del idioma... Vale, eso fue en español, pero ahora me voy a continuar en ingles. So... :) By the way, I'm Nina, 21 years old, I'm on biotechnology... Environment, Safety and Telecommunications: Could they travel in the same car? Well, I'm a girl driver... :D And we all know what people think about women behind the wheel... In that case, sometimes I like to prove that it 's not always so true... I started with my driving lessons very early, because my dad was always saying that he wouldn't let me be danger on the road! LOL And there are genes as well, I'm simply in love with anything that has to do something with cars... Maybe it sounds funny for a girl to say, but it's the way it is! So that's why I find this course so interesting... :)

42 Anyways... There's something else also worth of mentioning... Motivation... I'm MOTIVATED! :D That legendary BEST-spirit is in action. I'm always up for party, for doing something funny and crazy, new and different!... Other than that, usually I'm just looking for excuse to travel, wherever and mostly whenever... So, what else to say... All put together, it's definitely thing for me and with all my BEST-spirit and unlimited energy, I'd say I'm your girl! :))) Work hard, party harder! :D Hope to c u in Valladolid! 43 Summer09 Bratislava - Big City Life - What can you do in public places? Swimming in a public fountain… Running in the main square wearing only underwear… Racing inside shopping trolleys… but before telling you what else I have done in public places I will tell you something about me: I study Industrial Engineering in Valladolid (yes! The pervert place) in Spain. I'm an energetic outdoorsy person and I love travelling, club-dancing, swimming, listening to music and of course going out with my friends. (did I mention clubs??:) If you're looking for a very enthusiastic, friendly and open-minded student then...IM THE ONE! Moreover I dont want you to think that I only care about parties… so if you're looking for a person that will get 100% involved in the lectures and wont fall asleep during them... then once again... YOU NEED ME FOR DOING IT! I think that the design of public spaces is an extremely interesting topic and I have an idea about it, as I have studied Industrial Design Bachelor prior to the Master… so lets see whats wrong in your city and find a solution together :D and if learning can get fun... even better :) I didnt tell you what else I have done in public, but no worries… Ill do many more crazy things in Bratislava! And seeing it directly is always better than listening to it!!! P.S. I´m counting down the days… no, the hours already!!!! And I´ve already bought sangria for the International Evening : P

44 Summer09 Riga - Catch The Data If You Can! Do you know that there are only 10 types of people??? Those who know binary ( and want me to be a participant :P ) and those who dont… XD Everyone says that the time that you spend in university is the BEST time in your life (even when studying a Technical course like us :). I agree with that but in the future I want to say that the most unforgettable time during my studies was in Riga 26.07 - 06.08.2009 :) but before telling you the important DATA (what my favourite drink is) I will tell you something about me => PERSONAL DATA :D I study Industrial Engineering in Valladolid (yes! The pervert place) in Spain. I'm an energetic outdoorsy person and I love travelling, club-dancing, swimming, listening to music and of course going out with my friends. 46 Hej FRIENDS!! I'm Leire, from pervert Valladolid and I'm 21 years old. I've chosen this course because, though I'm studying Telecomunications, your topic is something really motivating for me!! :) In fact, here in Valladolid, I have a team called ESN (in english: Natural Samaritain Team)xD. We try to keep our city cleaned!, and we make some campaigns for that, but I want to learn more creative ideas to aware everybody in our city ;D I LOVE travelling!, knowing new people and places. I like reading, listening to music, I'm talkative, party lover and amazing joke-teller xDD Also, I love Sweden (and generally the north) because you are a very green country and I like it so much!! and the idea of riding a bike everyday is like a dream for me!! Maybe I can achieve this dream in my city in a few years!!! I also would like that everyone know more about my country, Spain!. So I'll bring you some food, wine :P and music! and I won't have any problem teaching you how to dance "sevillanas" :P:P or make SANGRIA :P!! 47 Summer10 Budapest - MONSTER Machines Hello there, lovely BESTies from Budapest! How many letters have you read yet? I guess lots, haven`t you? Getting bored? Well, I bet you can stop after mine... why? Because I know I`m THE person you are looking for! And as I don`t want to bore you... why don`t we just get to the point? So... What do you want to know about me? Who am I? Which are my interests? What am I studying? Which kind of music I like? Even if I sing in the shower? =) Well, glad you`re asking because it`s a pleasure for me to answer these questions! I`m Cristina, from Spain, 21, Mechanical Engineering student, hard-worker, crazy sometimes (or most of the time), quite pervert :P, WILLING to meet people from all around Europe, music is my vice, I`m a complete addict! Ok, I have to recognise I don`t usually sing in the shower... but I`m a master at Karaoke! And, of course, if you`re looking for some Spanish Folklore, count on me! Do you want me to bring you some typical Spanish music? Maybe some...flamenco? Copla? Even the most ridiculous Spanish music? And what about... Typical wine? Cook you a delicious Spanish Omelette? 48 But, more important, as I`ve said before, I`m a really hard-worker person, why am I interested in your course? Have I already said I`m a Mechanical Engineering student? Do I have to say anything else? Because I think the title of the course sais it all... MONSTER MACHINES. None of these machines could have existed without the work of a mechanical engineer! I just think it`d be really interesting for my formation, to know how they are designed, and get a clear picture of the agricultural machines in general ;) And last but not least... do you want open-minded people? Well... did I say I`m from always lovely Spain? We`re known worldwide for being really straight-forward people, never resting, and anyway working, and I swear I am not an exception! I LOVE visiting other countries, getting to know other cultures... Why Budapest? I want to know what being in the Central European hub of innovation feels like... 49 Summer10 Warsaw - Roooaaar! Vroom! Whoosh! Choo-choo! Transportation course incoming! Hello there European students! My name is Elena and I am 20 years old. I'm studying an architecture degree in Valladolid. It is quite hard, but I like it so much! I'd really like to be chosen for this activity, I am a very open person, always willing to experience new things and meet new people. I love traveling round Europe, and due to that I've got lots of friends in many countries, I keep in touch with them and I like it very much, learning about their cultures and manners improves my experience and the way I see life. I like big cities but I also enjoy countryside where I was raised, I like biking and walking or playing with my dogs. I?m a very active person who really likes trying new activities and never stays at home laying in front of the TV. What I like the most of my studies is History of Architecture, specially Modern, and also the project subjects, where I can design my own houses and plan everything from the beginning. I am very interested in new technologies that improve people's lives. I like learning about infraestructures, organisation and the way cities work, urbanism and how transport has an influence on it. I don't know what else could I need to be chosen but I am quite sure I will learn it if I am! I hope you let me take part of this experience and I am sure you won't regret! :)
