3 Mandatos con Ud.  To give a command to someone we address as Ud., we perform 3 similar steps: -AR hablar hablo -ER comer como -IR escribir escribo  Step 1:  Find the “yo” form of the present tense verb. Cosa nueva N o. 1

8 Mandatos con Uds.  To give a command to more than one person (a group we address as Uds.), we change one thing:  Do steps 1 and 2 as before:  Find the “yo” form of the present tense verb.  Drop the o to form the new stem. -AR hablar habl -ER comer com -IR escribir escrib Cosa nueva N o. 2

9 Mandatos con Uds.  To give a command to more than one person (a group we address as Uds.), we change one thing: -AR hablar Hablen.  This time, for step 3 :  For -AR verbs, add en to the stem.

11 ¿Cómo se dice…?  (Y’all) wash the dishes.  (Y’all) sweep the floor.  (Y’all) make the beds. Laven los platos. Barran el piso. Tiendan las camas.

12 ¿Y los negativos?  What about negative Ud. and Uds. commands?  Just add the word no before the command. Like this: Cosa nueva N o. 3

13 Mandatos negativos con Ud. y Uds.  Don’t clear the table.  Don’t eat the lobster.  Don’t vacuum. No quite(n) la mesa. No coma(n) la langosta. No pase(n) la aspiradora.

14 Otras reglas  Stem-changing verbs follow the same rules:  Contar (o  ue) ; Cuente(n) los cocos.  Encender (e  ie) ; Encienda(n) la luz.  Seguir (e  i) ; Siga(n) las instrucciones. Cosa nueva N o. 4
