2 Hola y bienvenidos a la clase de español. Me llamo Profesora Cordova y ésta es la clase de español 101. The first activity we’re going to do today is a Get Acquanited Activity. We will be covering ALL areas of language study in this course: Reading, writing. listening, and SPEAKING. We will be doing a lot of communicative activities in class, conversations, dialogues, and role-playing with partners or the entire class. So, to get to know our classmates a little, stand up, mingle around, introduce yourself to your classmates and find out a little about them.

35 After watching the videos of greetings in Spain & Argentina : What are your impressions of the ways of greeting each other in Spanish-speaking countries? Critical thinking – In pairs compare greetings between your country/culture and Latin American countries and Spain. * What are the differences/similarities. * What do you think about the differences/similarities? * Would you feel comfortable greeting the Latin American/Spanish way? Do you know about other greeting customs from other countries.

38 Other differences between cultures: Besides different ways of greeting each other, there are many other cultural differences between our culture and that of Spanish-speaking countries. e.g. Food Dress Role of family Importance of work Holidays and other celebrations Beliefs

39 Throughout the semester we will learn about the cultures of Spanish- speaking countries, critically think about customs and compare aspects of these cultures with our own culture.
