1 F-25 CHECK LIST DE DOCUMENTOS PARA CONSULTA (BIBLIOTECA) PROYECTO 289 Brief Description:Breve Descripción del Proyecto: Project Name and Location : Project for improvements to the water and wastewater systems in San Benito, Texas Type of Project: Water, Wastewater treatment Total Cost in USD Million: $32.44 Project Description: The City wishes to expand their existing wastewater treatment plant. A 1.5 million gallon per day wastewater treatment plant expansion is proposed in order to meet expected population growth and to add relialibility to the existing plant. The City wishes to construct an 8.0 million gallon per day water treatment plant to replace old (worn) existing plant. Existing plant was built in the 1930's and needs to be retired. A new water treatment plant will also add needed treatment capacity for the City and which is also needed to meet expected population growth. Community Benefits: Construction of a new WTP, overhead storage facility, WWTP, and related distribution improvements will address several human health and environmental issues for the residents within San Benito’s water treatment and wastewater treatment service area. Nombre del Proyecto y Localización: Proyecto de mejoras al sistema de agua potable y saneamiento de San Benito, Texas Tipo de Proyecto: Abastecimiento de agua potable y tratamiento de aguas residuales Costo Total en Millones de Dólares: $32.44 Descripción del Proyecto: La nueva PP se ubicará en un terreno de veinte acres que comprará la ciudad a la Fundación Industrial San Benito. La construcción de la nueva PP se realizará mediante un esquema por etapas. En la primera etapa del proyecto se construirá una nueva PP de 6.0 MGD en un nuevo lugar. La capacidad operativa de la PP actual se reduciría a 4.0 MGD y funcionaría junto con la nueva PP hasta el año 2015, cuando la planta actual se desmantelaría y la nueva planta se ampliaría a 10.0 MGD de capacidad. Beneficios a la Comunidad: La construcción de una nueva PP, un tanque elevado de almacenamiento, una PTAR y de mejoras en los sistemas de distribución, resolverá varios de los problemas de salud humana y medio ambiente de los habitantes del área de servicio del organismo operador de agua potable y saneamiento de San Benito.
