2 What is a Direct Object? Direct Object - The thing/person that receives the action of the verb. ¿Dónde están los objetos directos? 1. Yo quiero unas papas fritas. 2. Mis padres compran comida para la familia en el supermercado. 3. Nosotros perdemos los partidos de baloncesto. 4. Necesito llevar un abrigo. 5. 4 Placement of Direct Object Pronouns ¡Muy diferente que inglés! In Spanish you can place object pronouns in 4 different places in Spanish. In this chapter we´ll focus on the first 2, but you want to be aware of the other two as well. 1.Before the conjugated verb ¿Compraste las fresas?  Sí, las compré. 2.Attached to an infinitive ¿Quisiste pedir el jugo?  No, no quise pedirlo. 3.Attached to a progressive. ¿Estás estudiando el español?  Sí, estoy estudiándolo. 4.Attached to a positive command Escríbelo (write it) Entrégalos. (hand them in) Hazlo (do it)

5 1. Identify the direct object. 2. Replace it with a pronoun 3. Rewrite the sentence with the pronoun. Ejemplo: Ayer fui al correo y compré los sellos.
