3 Subjects & Verbs  Verbs are the action of your sentence or they indicate a state of being (is, seems, etc.).  The subject is a noun or pronoun that tells you who does the verb/action of your sentence.  Examples of subjects are nouns like Mary, Fred, and Jerome, or pronouns like I, you, or we.
