Presente Perfecto Sra. Benton

Formation  The present perfect is formed by adding a form of the verb “haber” to the past participle of any verb:  Haber  HeHemosAR: -ado hablado  HasHabéis + ER: -ido comido  HaHanIR: -ido vivido

Meaning  The present perfect has the meaning: “to have done something”  Yo he hablado I have spoken  El ha comido he has eaten  Ellos han ido they have gone  Nosotros hemos sido We have been  Tú has vueltoYou have returned

The Verb Haber  Remember, even though the verb haber means “to have,” it’s only used with another verb as a helping verb:  Yo he abierto la puerta.  Tú has roto la silla.  Ella ha viajado por Europa muchas veces.

Reflexive Verbs  Stem changing verbs work the same as regular verbs—the pronoun goes before the whole, two-part verb:  Nosotros nos hemos divertido mucho.  Ellos se han vuelto loco.  Yo me he enamorado en junio y en diciembre.

Direct and Indirect Object Pronouns  Direct and indirect object pronouns are added before the whole verb:  Yo le he llamado varias veces.  Maria me lo ha dado tres veces.  Nosotros nos lo hemos divertido mucho.* *while this is grammatically correct, it sounds a little awkward in Spanish and most native speakers would use the direct object instead of a pronoun in this case.

Quiz 1. María ___ el libro tres veces. 2. Yo ___ por Europa y Asia mucho, pero no ___ por Sudamérica. 3. Ellas ___ la lotería. ¡Son ricas! 4. Nosotros ___ toda la coca-cola. 5. Arturo ___ un coche nuevo, vamos a verlo después de la cena.
