2 Eloisa Isabella y Luisa son animales populares Son ricas y consiguen lo que ellas desean siempre. ¡Aún los maestros les dan lo que ellas desean! Eloisa, Isabella and Luisa are known to be the popular animals in school. They are rich and they always get what they want. Even the teachers give them what they want!

3 Adelina es una girafa. Su madre le dice que es muy bonita. Cuando está entre otras girafas así se siente, pero cuando está en la escuela se siente completamente diferente. Adelina is a giraffe, her mother says she is very beautiful, and when she’s with other giraffes she’s feels that way, but at school she feels completely different.

4 Cuando Adelina tenía cinco años y estaba en la primaria, Eloisa, Isabella y Luisa eran sus amigas. Una vez Adelina creció, ¡y como creció! no tuvo más amigas. El cuello de Adelina creció mucho. Parecía crecer sin parar. Las tres chicas dejaron de ser amigas de Adelina y ellas le decían que Adelina no era bonita a causa de su cuello largo. You see when she was a little giraffe, and was at preschool she was a friend with Eloisa, Isabella and Luisa. Then she started to grow. And did she grow! Her neck especially. It just kept on growing and never seemed to stop. So the three girls stopped being Adelina’s friend and told her that she wasn’t pretty enough to be friends with them.

5 Eloisa Isabella y Luisa eran muy vistosas. Eloisa era una panda y su piel era negra y blanca y muy bonita. Isabella era una tigre blanca su piel era blanca y perfecta. Finalmente Luisa era una zebra. Sus raya no tenían ni una falta y era delgada. Las tres chicas eran todas negras y blancas y le decían a Adelina que necesitaba tener una piel blanca y negra como ellas, para ser popular. Eloisa, Isablla and Luisa are gorgeous. Eloisa is a panda, and her beautiful black and white fur is perfect, And Isabella is a white tiger, who’s fur is always perfectly white. Then there is Luisa, who is a zebra and who’s stripes make her look very slim! The three girls are all black and white, and they told Adelina that the only way that she could be cool is to have black and white fur like them.

6 Adelina quería ser popular. Ella pensó que ella podía ser tan popular si su piel fuera negra y blanca y tuvo una idea. Adelina would do anything to be cool and to be popular like those girls. So she got an idea!

8 When adelina’s mother got home from work she was very upset. She made Adelina wash it out. Cuando su madre llegó a la casa, se puso muy triste y disgustada. “Tu eres bonita segun eres!” ella le dijo, y le ordenó que se lavara la pintura.

At school Adelina got very bad looks from everyone. And when she saw the three popular girls all they did was laugh. Adelina learned from this that you should have friends who like you for who you are, and for all your attributes. You shouldn’t be friends with people who don’t like you for who you are.

10 Biography of the author (espanol) “La girafa Adelina” es el primer libro que Bethany Pellons ha escrito. Bethany está en el segundo año de la escuela de Spaulding High school. Ella trata de disfrutar la vida. Ella vive en Barre Vermont con su madre. Ella juega hockey de campo en verano y otoño. Ella pasa tiempo con sus amigas y su novio. La inspiración para este libro fue una expieriencia de vida similar con “unas chicas “populares” y ella ha crecido como resultado de esa experiencia. Biography of the Author (Ingles) “Adelina the Giraffe” is Bethany Pellon’s first book she has written. Bethany is a junior at Spaulding High School and tries to enjoy life. She lives in Barre Vermont with her mother. She enjoys playing field hockey in the summer and fall and hanging out with her friends and boyfriend throughout the year. Her inspiration for this story was from a similar life experience with the “popular” girls and she has grown as a person as a result.
