3 Some explanations 1. The subject is the person or thing the sentence tells about. (El sujeto es la persona o cosa de la que estamos hablando) 2. Pronouns replace the subject or noun. (Los pronombres reemplazan al sujeto o a los sustantivos) 3. The verb BE has different forms for different subjects. ( El Verbo BE tiene diferentes formas para diferentes sujetos)

6 Negative form I am  I am not I’m not He is  He is not He isn’t

7 Yes/No Questions The answer to a yes/no question is YES or NO
Are you an English teacher? -Yes, I am Is he a math teacher? - No, he is not. Remember to identify the pronoun and answer with the correct form of the verb To Be (am- is – are)

8 The word order in yes/no question is:
Verb + subject + rest of the sentence Is John a doctor? Is he a doctor? Are + Jane and Alex + from Toronto? Are + they from Toronto?
