4 20 de Mayo Cuba belonged to Spain until after the Spanish American War in 1898 when it was turned over to the United States Cuba received its independence on May 20th 1902 At that time the US did good things for Cuba such as helping rebuild the roads and railways, and organizing public education and health care. The US proposed, in Cuba, the Platt Amendment which permitted involvement into Cubas internal affairs to protect American businesses. This was hated by the Cubans and it was then removed.

5 26 de Julio El 26 de Julia marks the occasion in 1953 when Fidel Castro led an attack on the Moncada garrison in Santiago de Cuba Although, the attack was unsuccessful, it was the beginning of the end of the hated dictator Batista. Declared the start of the revolution and is a great time to be in the country to experience the celebrations of national pride.

6 Fidel Castro: su liderazgo
On the 26th of July in 1953 Fidel Castro attacked the moncada army barracks. Batista the leader of Cuba fled the country and Castro took over. The US govt. tried various schemes to assassinate FC and continues to economically isolate Cuba.

7 Fidel Castro: las condiciones sociales
Fidel Castro's mother was a mulatta servant of the already married Angel Castro, and Fidel and his brothers and sisters were illegitimate, poor, and despised by Angel Castro's other children. Fidel has made comments on race relations in Cuba on a number of occasions, but these have increased since the fall of '98. In february of 1999 he has been reported to be discussing the topic They want to treat blacks and women equally

8 Fidel Castro: las atrocidades contra los ciudadanos
En la explosión en pleno vuelo del aparato de la línea Cubana de Aviación murieron 57 ciudadanos cubanos, 11 guyaneses y cinco norcoreanos. Las víctimas fueron homenajeadas en la Plaza de la Revolución, en La Habana, con la presencia de más de un millón de personas.

The bay of pigs was an attack on Cuba to overthrow Castro’s govt. US was defeated and was embarrassed. In the end the attack only increased Cubans’ support of their leader.
