2 Repaso: Why do we CONJUGATE verbs? ◦ Verbs needs to agree with the subject to make grammatical sense Without conjugation it sounds like: ◦ Yo escuchar = “I to listen”  ◦ Yo escucho = “I listen”

3 Repaso: -ar verb conjugations (yo) --o (tú) -- as (él, ella, --a Usted) ******* With these subjects, the two different infinitives (-er, -ir) conjugate the same

4 How to conjugate –er/-ir verbs You follow the same 3 steps for conjugating ALL verbs: 1.Start with the infinitive  comer 2.DROP the –er  com (this is called the ___) 3.ADD the appropriate ending according to the subject

5 Conjugations for –er & –ir verbs (yo) --o (tú) --es (él, ella, --e Usted) ******* With these subjects, the two different infinitives (-er, -ir) conjugate the same

6 Example: Correr (yo) corro (tú) corres (él, ella, corre Usted)

7 Example: Escribir (yo) escribo (tú) escribes (él, ella, escribe Usted)

8 Translation? Bebo los refrescos. Como la pizza en la cafetería.
