5 EFFECTIVE LANGUAGE PLANNING: CATALUNYA Breve contextualización histórica - Finales del siglo XIX - principios del XX: época de renacimiento y esplendor de la lengua catalana. - 1939 - 1975 (Años de la Dictadura): prohibición y persecución del catalán. La lengua castellana era la única oficial y permitida en el territorio español. - 1975 - actualidad. Con la creación del nuevo gobierno las lenguas propias de cada comunidad serán reconocidas. Hoy día el catalán goza del estatus de lengua cooficial en Cataluña, Valencia, Islas Baleares y es la única lengua oficial en Andorra.
