28 A watershed is the area of land where the water that falls on it drains off to a common outlet, like water in a funnel. Watersheds can be as small as a footprint or large enough to encompass all the land that drains water into a large body of water, like Puget Sound.

In your bodies, kidneys naturally filter out toxic metals and other poisons from your blood. In our communities, rain running over parking lots and driveways can pick up toxic pollutants. Soil and plants act like kidneys, filtering out toxins and naturally absorbing clean water into the ground, replenishing the groundwater. Like kidneys, plants and soil keep are important. They keep the water healthy for everyone.
