Sección 3.2: Formal Commands páginas 104-105 Formal commands are similar to informal (tú) commands, but speak to USTED or USTEDES Simple form: HABLAR (to speak) English: Speak up, Mr. President Hable más fuerte, Sr. Presidente. Simply maintain root: Habl- For -ar verbs add opposite ending e or en For -er/-ir verbs, add a or an endings.

Afirmativos y Negativos Verbs that bear a tail at the end of the –ar, - er, -ir infinitive, i.e. Pedirle: MAINTAIN tails in the affirmative at the end of the command: Ex) Pídale MOVE tails in the negative to the front of the conjugated command: No le pída. Same holds true for other tails, i.e. me, te, le, se, nos, les, las, los, etc.
