Tener Tener means "to have." Tener is an irregular verb. It doesn't conjugate like the regular verbs that we are familiar with.

Notas Tener is almost a stem changer. The one thing that keeps it from being labeled a stem changer is the conjugation in the yo form, tengo. The rest of the pronouns conjugate as a stem changing verb, e-> ie

Notas You use "tener" to say how old you are and that you are hungry.
Tengo siete años. It literally translates to I have seven years. Tengo hambre. It literally translates to I have hunger.
