2 Past tense (preterite) Irregular Verbs
Dar: to give – Conjugation in the Past tense (preterite): gave Yo dí tú diste él dió, ella dió, usted dió, quién dió Nosotros dimos ustedes/ellos dieron Ver: to see – Conjugation in the Past tense (preterite): saw Yo ví tú viste él /ella/usted/quién dió Nosotros vimos ustedes/ellos vieron

5 Verbo Reflexivo (to self/by self)
Verbs end in “se” - Afeitarse, pintarse, cepillarse, bañarse,etc. Rule of conjugation: the same: drop + replace BUT MUST ADD “me / te / nos / se” after the pronoun Yo ME afeito la barba Tú TE cepillas los dientes con Colgate Nosotros NOS pintamos el pelo de rojo All other pronouns use “SE” Ella se afeita, ustedes se pintan, ellos se cepillan

6 Presente progresivo: the action happens now, as you speak
TWO verbs are needed: ESTAR + “ar” …ando Yo lavo mi camiseta Ella mira la tv Uds. hablan con Ana Yo estoy lavando… Ella está mirando la tv Uds. están hablando.. (I am washing ...) (she is watching tv) (you all are talking to Ana) Conjugation of “estar” yo estoy tu estas el/ella/ usted/quien esta nosotros estamos ustedes/ellos estan

7 Adjetivo Demostrativo: It indicates distance, proximity
Este (masc.) Esta (fem.) = This Ese (masc.) Esa (fem.) = That Aquel (masc.) Aquella (fem.) = That one over there (Yonder) In The Plural: * Look at the plural in the masculine Estos (masc.) Estas (fem.) = These Esos (masc.) Esas (fem.) = Those Aquellos (masc.) Aquellas (fem.) =Those over there

8 Pronombre demostrativo: The accent replaces the noun
Éste (masc.) Ésta (fem.) = This one Ése (masc.) Ésa (fem.) = That one Aquél (masc.) Aquélla (fem.) = That one over there (Yonder) In The Plural: * Look at the plural in the masculine Éstos (masc.) 9 Look at the accent Este libro es nuevo. This book is new Éste es nuevo
(“Este” with the accent mark it’s replacing the noun (libro) This one is new. In English “one” replaces the noun (book) In Spanish, the accent mark replaces the noun “book”

10 Look at the accent again
Esa casa es moderna That house is modern Now “esa” with an accent mark is going to replace “casa” and it’s going to be written with an accent mark. Ésa es moderna That one is modern Me gustan estos zapatos I like these shoes Me gustan éstos I like these ones (the word “zapatos” has been replaced by “éstos” with an accent mark
