December 8, 2016 Kinder News: Veterans’ Hill Elementary Greetings! It is now December and the weather is cold! PLEASE remember to send appropriate clothing, jackets, gloves, warm hats, and PLEASE label the tags with your child’s name. We will go outside to recess, weather permitting. It is important that your child is dressed appropriately every day. Saludos! Ya es diciembre y el frio ha llegado! POR FAVOR recuerde de mandar ropa adecuada para el clima como una chaqueta gruesa, guantes, gorra, y por favor escríbale el nombre de su hijo(a). Vamos afuera al recreo si permite el tiempo. Es importante que su hijo/a se viste de manera apropiada cada día. Library: We had a successful Book Fair last week and were able to get many new books for our library. Please check your child’s library day and remind them to bring back their books. Biblioteca: Tuvimos una exitosa Feria del Libro la semana pasada y pudimos obtener muchos libros nuevos para nuestra biblioteca. Por favor, revise el día de la biblioteca de su hijo y recuérdeles que traigan sus libros. Holiday concert celebration: Thank you to all the parents who came to support their child during the holiday concert. It was a wonderful experience and everyone sang beautifully! Fue una experiencia maravillosa y todo el mundo cantó maravillosamente! December 16th: This day will be an early release day. We will dismiss at 12:00pm. Please be on-time for dismissal. Each night, your child should read their take-home readers to you and you should read a story to your child. If you do not have good stories at home, library books are great! Talk about the books with your child, including characters, setting, and what happened in the story. Leer: Recuerda de leer diariamente. Cada día, su hijo/a debe leer sus libritos decodificables y Ud. debe leer un cuento. Si no tiene cuentos buenos en casa, libros de la biblioteca son buenos! In Reading, we are learning our letter sounds, spelling words and how to make connections to the text and clarify questions. In Math, we are composing and decomposing numbers up to 15. In Social Studies, we are learning to identify different family customs, traditions and celebrations. In Science, we are learning to observe and describe the properties of wáter, soil and weather. En lectura, estamos aprendiendo nuestros sonidos de letras, deletreando palabras y cómo hacer conexiones con el texto y aclarar preguntas. En Matemáticas, estamos componiendo y descomponiendo números hasta 15. En Estudios Sociales, estamos aprendiendo a identificar diferentes costumbres, tradiciones y celebraciones familiares.
