When we refer to something twice, we need a way to refer to it a second time. For this we need… Direct object pronouns.

2 Direct Object Pronouns
Direct object pronouns refer to something that has already been mentioned. In English, our indirect object pronouns are “it” and “them”

3 You have learned many different types of pronouns:
Subject pronouns yo nosotros X él, ella, usted ellos/ustedes

4 Direct object pronouns are:
me l nos te l X Lo,la l los,las

5 Replacing direct objects with pronouns
La cama: La Las camas: las El libro: Lo Los libros: los

Yo: me tú: te nosotros: nos ellos: los

7 DOP Use in Spanish In Spanish, the direct object pronoun follows the same placement rules as reflexive pronouns: BEFORE THE CONJUGATED VERB HANGING ON TO THE INFINITIVE

8 Using Direct Object Pronouns
If you say, “I cut the grass.”, when you talk about it again, you might say, I cut ________.” I cut it. It is your direct object pronoun (DOP).

9 Using Direct Object Pronouns
If you say, “We washed the dishes.”, when you talk about it again, you might say, “We washed ________.” We washed them. Them is your direct object pronoun (DOP).

10 Replace the following direct objects with direct object pronouns:
1. Veo la película. La veo. 2. I see you: Te veo. 3. I see them. Los veo 4. I see it. (unspecified) Lo veo.
