3 PRETERITE Here we will learn the preterite (past) tense forms of: PODER (to be able to, can) TENER (to have) ESTAR (to be)

4 PRETERITE These are all irregular in the past tense and you must memorize these verb forms. Remember: Irregular verbs DO NOT HAVE ACCENT MARKS IN PRETERITE TENSE!!!!!!!!

14 PRETERITE VS IMPERFECT Imperfect tense forms of these verbs are use to describe people, places, and situations in the past and to tell how things used to be. The preterite forms, on the other hand, are used to talk about situations at a specific time in the past.

15 POR EJEMPLO Anoche tuve que salir y no pude ver mi programa favorito. Ayer estuvo lloviendo y no vimos el sol en todo el día.
