PATOFISIOLOGIA Conciencia comprende: alerta, despierto y responsivo. Ocurre un mal funcionamiento difuso entre los hemisferios cerebrales y el sistema reticular. Lesiones hipotalámicas posteriores pueden también producir coma. Alteraciones en la función cerebral como: isquemia, hipoxia, infección, desbalance metabólico y tóxicos pueden producir coma.

PATOFISIOLOGIA El continuo del estado comatoso se puede describir: Depresión leve o moderada de la corteza produce disminución del nivel de conciencia, alteración contacto medio ambiente y perdida de discriminación y euforia. Supresión cortical completa produce mal funcionamiento motor y de los reflejos. Depresión del cerebro medio produce perdida respuesta reflejos y de funciones de órganos. Depresión del tallo cerebral produce perdida del control respiratorio y circulación.

COMA MANEJO MEDICO Identificar las causas y tratarlas. Apoyar funciones vitales y prevenir deterioro. Proteger vías de aire. Administrar tiamina, glucosa Anticonvulsivos. MANEJO DE ENFERMERIA Evaluar cambios neurológicos. Apoyar funciones corporales Soporte emocional Iniciar medidas rehabilitación. Cuidado a ojos.
