1 I CURSO DE ASMA EN LA INFANCIA: TRATAMIENTO Y TALLERES DE ESPIROMETRÍA Y SISTEMAS DE INHALACIÓN
Note to the presenter: In this presentation our key clinical messages are linked into one clinical story – Pharmacia Diagnostics’ Clinical Allergy Story. It is designed mainly for internal use as a tool to harmonize the use of different clinical messages and as an internal education material. Selected parts can also be used directly to customers if you need a short summary of our Clinical Allergy story to an experienced group of listeners. Briefly, this story presents allergy as a big and rapidly growing problem, why early diagnosis and allergy testing is important, and the symptom profile concept as a tool to identify the allergic patients. It also goes into details on the value of knowing quantitative results for diagnosis, prognosis and follow-up as well as the interpretation of total allergen exposure, sensitization and atopy. The story is a summary of the education material linked to Clinical Allergy step-by-step (more info in the presentation Clinical Allergy step-by-step). Each chapter of the education material is aimed be used for a stepwise approach to customers. The first presentations are addressed to primary care physicians/doctors inexperienced in allergy, while the later presentations are addressed to doctors experienced and interested in allergy testing. Today the education material comprises two PowerPoint presentations with detailed speakers guides; “Suspicion of allergy?” and “Is it allergy?”. The chapter “Value of knowing” with a complementary chapter “Case reports” will be available soon. More chapters on the theme “Allergen load” and “Benefits of testing” are also in the pipeline. Today allergy is a big and rapidly growing problem all over the world. Allergy is commonly classified as a widespread disease and one out of four children is allergic. 3 ¡¡ DEBEMOS APRENDER A DIAGNOSTICARLA Y TRATARLA !!
Prevalence data from clinical studies show that 1 out of 3 infants and young children with eczema has underlying allergy. In these cases the best treatment is to eliminate food that the child has become sensitized to from its diet, or avoid contact with other allergens that it may be reacting to, e.g. mites and pets. For the benefit of patients it is important to find out if your patient is allergic and what it has become sensitized to.

Consenso sobre tratamiento del Asma en Pediatría El Dr. Pellegrini explicará el tratamiento y la clasificación del asma según el Consenso de asma en Pediatría (avalado por las cinco sociedades pediátricas) mediante una breve charla. Posteriormente se realizará un taller de casos clínicos interactivos que se comentarán entre todos los asistentes. So who should be tested? 6 SEGUNDA PARTE DEL TALLER
El Dr. Pellegrini explicará MANEJO de los inhaladores y diferentes dispositivos para realizar de forma correcta el tratamiento de la crisis asmática. Se les entregarán a todos los asistentes los inhaladores más frecuentes en la práctica clínica diaria y de esta forma, aprender el manejo de los mismos. So who should be tested? 7 TERCERA PARTE DEL TALLER
La Dra. Ortega explicará cómo realizar e interpretar la espirometría en el niño. Tras una charla de 20 minutos en la que se explican los parámetros más relevantes de una espirometría, se iniciará el taller en el que TODOS los alumnos participarán haciendo e interpretando espirometrías. Para ello, se cuenta con un espirómetro portátil último modelo (¡¡entra en el bolsillo de la bata!!) So who should be tested?
