How do we change them? We conjugate the verbs like we have in the past, but with an added step: 1. Take off the ending (-ar, -er, or -ir) 2. Write the proper ending in the box. 3. Identify your stem. 4. Change the spelling (except nosotros form). 5. Attach the new stem in the box.

**Important Rule*** When changing the stem of a verb in spelling, always select the vowel closest to the end of the stem. Example: The boot verb “preferir” has to “e” is the stem. You will select the seceond one: Preferir
