Preterite i > y Stem Change Verbs With the exception of verbs ending in –uir, these verbs have a written accent on the i of all the preterite forms. These verbs share the same common irregular preterite verb endings (e, iste, o, imos, isteis, ieron)

Present tense stem-changers in the preterite Verbs that end in –ir and have an e-> ie, or e->i stem change in the present tense, also have a stem change in the preterite. The stem vowel changes from e to i only in the third person singular and third person plural.
