LAMC CD 1 Week 4 Genes & Human Reproduction
Gene- is a section of the DNA.
For each pair of chromosomes, the genes for a trait (i.e. - eye color or nose shape) are in the same locations, and called alleles.
Phenotype- is the outward expression of the genotype-environment interactions; includes behaviors; the characteristic of a trait that is observable in a person; Fenotipo- representa las características físicas, las del comportamiento, y las características psicologicas de la persona; es la expresión exterior del genotipo.
Dominant gene- A powerful allele whose characteristics are expressed in the phenotype regardless of the allele with which it is paired.
Recessive gene- A weak allele whose characteristics are expressed in the phenotype only when it is paired w/ another recessive gene.
Mitosis- involves autosomes… Meiosis- the process of cell division that results in the production of gametes. Gametes… Gonads… Conception & Fertility/Infertility
Ovulation- release of an egg (ovum) from the ovary… Show video clip Conception Show video clip
Behavior Genetic Theory Environmental & genetic factors that account for individual in personality & behavior. Shared vs. non-shared environments Heritability- value ranges from 0 to 1.00; the higher the heritability, the more the characteristic is believed to be influenced by genes
Siempre desarrollar individuo…
Gene environment interactions The environment influences how genes are expressed in the phenotype Epigenesis: development results from the bidirectional interactions between the environment & genotype (DNA)
