LOS VERBOS REFLEXIVOS Telling what people do for themselves

A reflexive verb is one which the action is executed and received by the subject of the sentence. Since the subject receives the action of the verb, a reflexive pronoun is required. REFLEXIVE NOT REFLEXIVE Mariana se baña.  Mariana baña al perro. Lucia se cepilla.  Lucia cepilla al perro.

REFLEXIVE PRONOUNS Yo me miro  I look at myself Tú te miras  You look at yourself Él se mira  He looks at himself Nosotros nos miramos  We look at ourselves Ellos se miran  They look at themselves **Reflexive pronouns are placed directly in front of the verb. If the verb is negative, no is placed directly in front of the reflexive pronoun.** Yo me levanto temprano. Yo no me levanto temprano.

If someone or something other than the subject receives the action of the verb, no reflexive pronoun is required. Juan lava el carro. Joel despierta a su hermana.

When you refer to parts of the body and articles of clothing, you often use the definite article, not the possessive adjective. Me lavo el pelo. Te cepillas los dientes. El muchacho se pone los zapatos.
