Los verbos reflexivos Una presentación por la Sra. Black

¿Qué es un verbo reflexivo?  A reflexive verb is one in which the subject and object are the same. I wash myself  Subject: I  Verb: wash  Object: myself Since the subject and object are the same, the verb is reflexive.

¿Qué es un verbo reflexivo? I wash the dog.  Subject: I  Verb: wash  Object: dog Since the subject and object are different, it is not a reflexive verb.

Los reflexivos  All reflexive verbs end in “se” Unos ejemplos:  Acostarse  Despertarse  Levantarse  Ducharse

La forma de conjugar los reflexivos  When you conjugate a reflexive verb, you must: Determine the subject  Who is doing the action? Drop the “se” from the end and add the reflexive pronoun that agrees with the subject in front of the verb Conjugate the verb normally depending on the subject and the tense

Los pronombres reflexivos  Me (myself)  Te (yourself, fam.)  Se (himself, herself, yourself form.)  Nos (ourselves)  Os (yourselves fam.)  Se (themselves, yourselves form.)

¿Qué verbo sabes tú que usa los pronombres reflexivos?  ¡¡¡LLAMARSE!!! Me llamo (I call myself) Te llamas (You call yourself) Se llama (He/she/you call himself/herself/yourself)

Unos ejemplos en el presente:  I shower myself. (I take a shower) Yo ducharse Yo me duchar Yo me ducho.  Juan washes himself. (Juan washes up.) Juan lavarse Juan se lavar Juan se lava

Más ejemplos en el presente:  We get (ourselves) ready. Nosotros arreglarse Nosotros nos arreglar Nosotros nos arreglamos.  They get (themselves) up. Ellos levantarse Ellos se levantar Ellos se levantan.

¡Practiquemos!  I go to bed.  You (fam.) wake up.  Julio combs his hair.  We brush our teeth.  I put on my clothes before school.

Verifiquemos  Yo me acuesto.  Tú te despiertas.  Julio se peina el pelo.  Nosotros nos cepillamos los dientes.  Yo me pongo la ropa antes de la escuela.

Si hay más de un verbo…  If there is a conjugated verb before the reflexive, you have 2 choices of placement. The reflexive pronoun may be placed before the conjugated verb.  Yo me quiero arreglar. Or after and attached to the reflexive infinitive.  Yo quiero arreglarme. But NEVER between the conjugated and infinitive verbs!!!!!

Más ejemplos:  We feel like going to bed. (Nosotros) Nos tenemos ganas de acostar. (Nosotros) Tenemos ganas de acostarnos.  You have to put clothes on. (Tú) Te tienes que poner la ropa. (Tú) Tienes que ponerte la ropa.  He wants to shave. Él quiere afeitarse. Él se quiere afeitar.
