W HAT DOES “ CONJUGATING ” A VERB MEAN ? We conjugate in English EVERYDAY! Conjugating is modifying a verb to match its subject Verbs are When we are conjugating, we are changing from the infinitive form to demonstrate the subject d oing the verb. The infinitive form is the verb, before you modify it. In English, it is the form that starts with “to”: like t o arrive, to go, to talk, to l earn. Conjugating it would be: I arrive, you go, the teacher talks, she learns (the purple is the subject)

V ERBS IN SPANISH All infinitive forms of verbs in Spanish have one of the following endings (it is equivalent to the “to” before infinitives in English verbs): -ar -er -ir
