TO HAVE TO ______ To express an obligation that one MUST or HAS TO ________, use the following formula. Form of TENER + que + infinitive Example: Ella tiene que cantar. She has to sing. Nosotros tenemos que estudiar. We have to study.

SHOULD or OUGHT TO To express that one SHOULD or one OUGHT TO do something, use the following formula: Form of DEBER + infinitive Example: Tu debes estudiar. You should study. Ustedes deben ir con el profesor. You should go with the teacher.

Practicamos Tell your teacher something that you have to do after school today. Tell your friend something that you should do to get an A in Spanish. Tell your teacher that he has to write to his friend in Sevilla. Tell your neighbor that he/she should go to the movies tomorrow. Ask the person behind you why he/she has to do the dishes in the kitchen. Ask the person in front of you if he/she should eat in the dining room or in the kitchen.
