2 ¿Qué es un infinitivo?

4 #1: Verbs like Gustar Me gusta + infinitivo Me gusta bailar.
I like to dance. Me encanta + infinitivo Me encanta bailar. I love to dance.

5 Otros verbos como gustar:
encantar – to love importar – to matter fascinar – to fascinate molestar – to bother interesar – to interest disgustar – to not like/hate aburrir – to bore

6 #2: tener + que + infinitivo
tengo tienes tiene + que infinitivo tenemos tenéis tienen

7 1.) I have to dance. Yo tengo que bailar. 2.) We have to eat. Nosotros tenemos que comer. 3.) They have to study. Ellos tienen que estudiar.

8 #3: ir + a + infinitivo voy vas va vamos a infinitivo vais van

9 1.) I am going to eat. Yo voy a comer. 2.) She is going to talk. Ella va a hablar. 3.) José and Luis are going to sing. José y Luis van a cantar.

10 #4: Después del otro verbo – when you use two verbs in Spanish, the second one is usually the infinitive. The following are verbs that are commonly used in this situation. querer – to want preferir – to prefer poder – to be able deber – to ought to/should pensar – to plan necesitar – to need

11 1.) I want to dance. Quiero bailar. 2.) I prefer to dance. Prefiero bailar. 3.) I can dance. Puedo bailar. 4.) I should dance. Debo bailar. 5. I plan to dance. Pienso bailar. 6.) I need to dance. Necesito bailar.

12 #5: Hay que/Se prohíbe + infinitivo
Hay que + infinitivo One must …… Se prohíbe + infinitivo It’s forbidden…..

13 Hay que… 1.) One must turn in the homework on time.
Hay que entregar la tarea a tiempo. 2.) One must respect the teacher. Hay que respetar a la profesora.

14 Se prohíbe… 1.) It’s forbidden to eat in class.
Se prohíbe comer en a la clase. 2.) It’s forbidden to talk in class. Se prohíbe hablar durante la clase.

15 #6: Después de las preposiciones. (para, en, por, de)
1.) I go to the class in order to dance. Voy a la clase para bailar. 2.) After eating, I brush my teeth. Después de comer, me cepillo los dientes. 3.) Before going to bed, I put on my pjs. Antes de acostarme, me pongo las pijamas.

17 1.) It’s necessary to study every day.
Es necesario estudiar todos los días. 2.) It’s good to go to school. Es bueno ir a la escuela. 3.) It’s important to listen to your dad. Es importante escuchar a tu papá.

18 #7: Como gerundio (gerund)
1.) Bailar es divertido. Dancing if fun. 2.) Hacer la tarea de matemáticas es aburrido. Doing math homework is boring.

20 We have to listen. They are going to sing. We should jump. 1. Nosotros tenemos que escuchar. 2. Ellos van a cantar. 3. Nosotros debemos saltar.

21 You (inf./sing.) prefer to dance.
I love to write. He likes to read. Tú prefieres bailar. (A mí) me encanta escribir. (A él) le gusta leer.

22 They want to run. She can scream. I study in order to learn. Ellos quieren correr. Ella puede gritar. Yo estudio para aprender.
