El uso de los adjetivos The Use of Adjectives
Adjectives describe nouns. In Spanish they must agree with the noun described in two ways…………
1.Gender (masculine or feminine noun) Nouns ending in “ a ”, “ dad ”, “ d ” or “ ci ó n ” are usually feminine. Nouns ending in “o”, “r”, “ma”, or other consonants are usually masculine.
2.Number (Singular or Plural Noun) Hint = Look for the “s” on the end of the noun.
Adjectives ending in “o” or “a” can have 4 forms:
Adjectives ending in any other letter will usually only have two forms: Singularinteligente Pluralinteligentes Singularinteligente Pluralinteligentes
Adjectives are usually placed after the noun they describe in a sentence: Juan es un chico atl é tico. Rosa es una chica guapa. Es una clase interesante. ¿ Tienes un bol í grafo azul? Juan es un chico atl é tico. Rosa es una chica guapa. Es una clase interesante. ¿ Tienes un bol í grafo azul?
When plural nouns refer to both males and females, a masculine, plural form is used. Emilio, Lupe, y María son morenos.
If there is a “rhyme” at the end of different words in a sentence, then the articles, adjectives and nouns are in agreement and the sentence is probably composed correctly. Las chicas altas son bellas. Las chicas altas son bellas.
