Ser y Estar ☆ first, let’s review the forms of each verb: serestar soysomos eresX esson estoyestamos estásX estáestán

Estar ☆ when trying to remember how to use estar, here is a helpful rhyme: “How you feel and where you are, always use the verb estar.” *often goes with “en” …in other words, use estar for location and for temporary conditions (like feelings).

Examples of Estar ☆ an example of location: ¿Dónde está Paco? Paco está en la playa con sus amigos. Paco is located on the beach. He is not from the beach.

Examples of Estar ☆ an example of a temporary condition: ¿Cómo estás hoy? Estoy muy bien, gracias. I am currently & temporarily well. I will not always be well.

Ser ☆ ser is used to express: 1)The day, date, and time 2)Place of origin 3)Nationality 4)Occupation 5)Possession 6)Personality traits and physical descriptions *often goes with “de”
