In Spanish there are 4 words for the definite article—el, los, la, las Definite Article—refers to something specific In English, we have one word = the In Spanish there are 4 words for the definite article—el, los, la, las el = the  masculine singular los = the  masculine plural la = the  feminine singular las = the  feminine plural Por Ejemplo: El chico es simpático. Los chicos son simpáticos. La profesora es simpática. Las profesoras son simpáticas.
