1. To say that people do something to or for themselves, you use reflexive verbs 2. You know that a verb is reflexive if its infinitive form ends with the letters se  For example, washing one’s hands and brushing one’s hair are reflexive actions because the person doing the action also receives the action  Antes de una cita, (yo) me lavo el pelo y me cepillo el pelo.  despertarse  lavarse  mirarse

3. The reflexive pronouns in Spanish correspond to a different subject. 4. Here are the present-tense forms of the reflexive verb lavarse menos teos sese me lavo nos lavamos te lavas se lava se lavan

5. Some verbs have both reflexive and non-reflexive forms and usages. Lavo el coche a menudo. Lavo el coche a menudo. Me lavo el pelo todos los días. Me lavo el pelo todos los días.  A verb is used in it’s non-reflexive form if the action is being done to someone or something else  I wash the car often.  I wash my hair everyday.

6. When you use a reflexive verb with parts of the body or clothing, use the definite article (not the possessive adjective) ¿Siempre te lavas las manos? ¿Siempre te lavas las manos? Do you always wash your hands? Felipe se pone los zapatos. Felipe se pone los zapatos. Felipe puts on his shoes.

7. In the negative form, no is placed before the reflexive pronoun.  ¿No te lavas las manos?  La familia Martínez no se levanta tarde.

8. -You can put reflexive pronouns before the conjugated verb -Or you can attach them to the infinitive. El niño se quiere acostar. Me voy a lavar las manos. ¿Te quieres quitar la chaqueta? El niño quiere acostarse. Voy a lavarme las manos. ¿Quieres quitarte la chaqueta?
