SABER  ¿Sabes dónde está Juan?  ¿Saben Uds. quíen fue a la fiesta ayer?  ¿Sabemos que ellos cocinaron la cena.

SABER  Saber followed by an infinitive means “to know how.”  Yo sé jugar fútbol.  Sabe él grabar un disco compacto?

CONOCER  Conocer means “to know” in the sense of being acquainted or familiar with a person, place, or thing.

The Verb CONOCER  Remember the personal “a”?  Conozco a María Teresa.  Conoces a ellas? Sí las conozco.  Conozco Madrid.  Why is it not used above?

The Verb CONOCER  Conocer is followed by the personal “a” when the direct object is a person.  Direct object pronouns can also be used with conocer.
