The conditional tense The conditional is used when we say something ‘would’ happen. I would go, I would eat, I would have, I would be…. It is conditional on something else happening. It is closely linked to the future tense because it’s something that hasn’t happened yet!
Formation Take the future stem. Usually, for MOST VERBS this is the infinitive Add the endings (they are the same as the endings for the imperfect tense) -ía, ías, ía, íamos, íais, ían A group of irregular verbs have a different stem ( not the infinitive).
