Present Progressive
To state that an action is happening right now, we use the present progressive. The present progressive is the equivalent to ‘ing’ verbs in English. I am reading, You are eating –AR verbs will get the ending –ANDO –ER and –IR verbs will get the ending -IENDO
To form the present progressive you need 2 things: – the present tense of ‘ESTAR’ –The appropriate ending (-ando, -iendo) She is eating = ella está comiendoShe is eating = ella está comiendo We are talking = nosotros estamos hablandoWe are talking = nosotros estamos hablando
Irregular verbs… Decir (e – i) = diciendo Pedir (e – i) =pidiendo Repetir (e – i) =repitiendo Seguir (e – i) =siguiendo Servir (e – i) = sirviendo Vestir (e – i) = vistiendo Dormir (o – u) =durmiendo
Double Vowel Verbs Verbs like Leer, Creer and Traer that have a double vowel will use –yendo for their –ing form. Leer=leyendo Creer=creyendo Traer=trayendo
