IT HAS BEEN CREATED DECEMBER THE SCHOLARSHIPS PROGRAM WAS ONE OF THE FIRST PROGRAMS IN CONACYT. ¿What is CONACYT? COORDINATES FEDERAL GOVERNMENT POLICIES IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION. PROMOTES HIGH LEVEL HUMAN CAPITAL FORMATION.

Postgraduate Studies in Mexico In the 70’s the offer was very limited The scholarships program for postgraduate studies start as a program for study in the abroad.

Investment in higher education Federal government has made many investment to create or strength Mexican public universities. Ten years after the number of postgraduate studies began to grow.

National (local) Scholarships In the 80’s started the program of national scholarships. It was a two purposes program: allow professors who had only a bachelors degree to have masters o PHDs; get and incentive to the students to make postgraduate studies.

The PNPC In the 90’s the offer of postgraduate studies was increasing very fast. It was necessary to have a quality control. PE -> PNFP -> PNPC

Internationalization of PNPC Receiving foreign students Diversify the origin of the foreign students. 245 programs can be in English. “Becas mixtas” (mobility).

Short term fellowships Up to six months for masters Up to one year for PHD’s Short term stays in the USA – One month – The stay could be additional to the six months or one year placement. – A group can be accompanied by the professor. – No need to have an upper level of language – No restriction in destinations.
