Using interrogative words ¿Cómo…? How ¿Cuál(es)…? which ¿Cuándo…? when ¿Cuánto/a(s)…? How many ¿Por qué…? why ¿Dónde…? where ¿Qué…? what ¿De dónde…? From where ¿Adónde…? Where to ¿Quién(es)…? who, who( plural)

How to make a question with interrogative words Put a conjugated verb after the question word. Ex. ¿Cómo está Ricardo? How is Ricardo? ¿Cuál es tu clase favorita? What is your favorite class? ¿Adónde va Luisa? Where is Luisa going to? ¿Por qué va Ricardo a casa? Why is Ricardo going home?

Creating simple yes and no questions. Take the verb from a statement, place in the beginning of a sentence and at the end attach ¿ ? marks in between. Use a rising intonation to imply a question. Isabel estudia en la escuela. ¿Estudia Isabel en la escuela?(rise intonation)(Does Isabel study at school?) In Spanish we don’t use (do, does, did, is, can,are in front of a yes/no question)

Ella estudia todos los dias. ¿Estudia (ella) todos los dias? Ella usa un lapiz. ¿Usa (ella) un lapiz? Hablas el el español muy bien. ¿Hablas el español muy bien?

Dónde? and Adónde? Use Adónde to mean where to, to show direction with the verb ir. ¿Adónde vas? (Where are you going to?) Use dónde to start the question Where? ¿Dónde esta la clase? (Where is the class?)

4 ways to write questions Statement: Mariana canta en el coro(choir) de la escuela. (Take the statement and add ¿?, do rising intonation) ¿Mariana canta en el coro de la escuela? (invert the verb and the subject) ¿Canta Mariana en el coro de la escuela? (Put the verb at front and subject at end) ¿Canta en el coro de la escuela Mariana? Make it a tag yes no question Mariana canta en el coro de la escuela, ¿verdad? Or ¿no?

Qué and Cuál Sometimes qué and cuál are followed by words other than verbs. Qué can be followed directly by a noun, but cuál or cuáles cannot. Ex. ¿_____________ clase te gusta mas? ¿_____________ es la fecha de hoy? ¿_____________ de los libros son de ella? Qué Cuál Cuáles
