 In Spanish, there are several verbs that have spelling changes in the stem of the word.  The stem is the part of the word before the ar, er, or ir.  Possible spelling changes are:  E  ie  O  ue  U  ue EiEi  When we conjugate spelling-change verbs, we use “the boot”. All forms inside the boot have the stem change. The two forms outside of the boot are the nosotros and vosotros forms. Those two forms do not have a spelling change.  Some verbs may have an o and an e or two es in the stem. We have to remember that the change occurs with the final vowel before the ar, er, or ir ending.
