Telling time To tell the time for the hour of one oclock you start with Es la una … Example: Es la una. Its one oclock.

Telling time For any other hour, say It is….oclock you start with Son las (the number of the time) Example: Son las tres. Its three oclock.

To add the minutes… Just say y (and the number of minutes) Example: Son las dos y veinte. Its 2:20. Es la una y dos. Its 1:02. Es la una y dos. Its 1:02.

If its past the half hour, to say its so many minutes til… Say (number of the following hour) menos (number of minutes to that hour) Example: Son las tres menos veinte. Its twenty til. Its 2:40. (the following hour is 3:00 and it will be 20 min until then)

From 12:31-12:59 Time would start with Es la una menos (however many minutes to one). Time would start with Es la una menos (however many minutes to one). Its 12:35. Its 12:35. Es la una menos veinticinco. Es la una menos veinticinco.

To say its noon… Es mediodía.

To say its midnight… Es medianoche.

To indicate in the morning… Say de la mañana Example: Son las seis de la mañana. Its 6:00 in the morning.

To indicate, in the afternoon Say de la tarde Example: Son las tres de la tarde. Its 3:00 in the afternoon.

To indicate at night… Say de la noche Example: Son las ocho de la noche. Its 8:00 at night.

To indicate on the dot Say en punto Example: Es la una en punto. Its one oclock on the dot.
