Let’s say it in English. On the hour times.
En Inglés 4:00 am= it is 4 O’clock in the morning. 4:00 pm= it is 4 O’clock in the afternoon. 8:00 pm= it is 8 O’clock at night.

We use time + using the word “y” in Spanish. 11:10= 9:20= 2:15= Son las once y diez. Son las nueve y veinte Son las dos y quince.

Telling time with “-” menos
Son las tres menos veinte. 2:40 3: 50 6:55 7:35 Son las cuatro menos diez. Son las siete menos cinco. Son las ocho menos veinticinco.

To tell time for the hour of 1am, 1pm etc we use “es” because it is singular. Por ejemplo. 1:00 1:10 1:25 1:30 Es la una. Es la una y diez. Es la una y veinticinco. Es la una y media.

But what happens when we want to say that the hour is 1:31 to 1:59?
We then must tell the time according to the hour that it will be, minus the minutes. For example: 1:35 will be: Son las dos menos veinticinco. 1:50 will be Son las dos menos diez.
