Remordimiento Regret

Produce suspiros, pesar, pesadumbre. “Lo siento, lo lamento”. Introducción. “Internal grief that an evil deed produces in the soul.” Produces sighs, sadness, grief. “I’m sorry, I lament it.”

Who has not said, “if I could do it over I wouldn’t do it that way”? “If I had only known.” “If I could erase that chapter from my life.”

We are creatures of regret because we are creatures that make mistakes. We ourselves torment and punish ourselves.

Remordimiento - Regret I. El pecado causa remordimiento. I. Sin causes regret. A. Sin is against God, but it is also against ourselves.

Remordimiento - Regret B. Sin faltar. B. Without fail. Ps. 38:4, “For my iniquities have gone over my head; Like a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.”

My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up; They are more than the hairs of my head; Therefore my heart fails me.”

Remordimiento - Regret II. II. Examples: Genesis 27:34, “When Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with an exceedingly great and bitter cry, and said to his father, "Bless me -- me also, O my father!"

Hebrews 12:16, “lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright.”

V. 17, For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance (in his father), though he sought it diligently with tears.”

He could not change the consequence. It was irrevocable. There only remained for him regret and bitter sadness.

Joseph’s brothers: Gen. 42:21, “they said to one another, "We are truly guilty concerning our brother…

Remordimiento - Regret porque vimos la angustia de su alma cuando nos rogaba, y no lo escuchamos, por eso ha venido sobre nosotros esta angustia”. for we saw the anguish of his soul when he pleaded with us, and we would not hear; therefore this distress has come upon us."

Remordimiento - Regret David: Sal. 51:1, “Ten piedad de mí, oh Dios, conforme a tu misericordia; conforme a lo inmenso de tu compasión, borra mis transgresiones”. David: Ps. 51:1, “Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions.”

Peter: Matt. 26:75, “And Peter remembered the word of Jesus who had said to him, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times." So he went out and wept bitterly.”

Judas: Matt. 27:3, “Then Judas, seeing that Jesus had been condemned, was remorse- ful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders…

Remordimiento - Regret diciendo, he pecado entregando sangre inocente. Pero ellos dijeron: A nosotros, qué? Allá tú!” saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." And they said, "What is that to us? You see to it!"

Prodigal son: Lk. 15:17-19, "But when he came to himself, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!...

'I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants."

Jews who crucified Jesus: Acts 2:37, 38, “Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?“…

Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

The Corinthians: 2 Cor. 7:9, 10, “Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner…

For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.”

The rich man: Lk. 16:22-24, “The rich man died and was buried. "And being in torments in Hades…

"Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.'

EVERY person that falls into that flame is full of regret: Oh, if I had accepted the invitation and obeyed the gospel.

“If I had another opportunity, I would do it immediately and I would be a faithful Christian, attending all the services without fail.”

Imagine! Millions screaming, “If I could just hear another invitation song. If only I had another opportunity to obey …”

Matt. 22:13, “There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matt. 25:30, “And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Conclusion. Take advantage of the present opportunity so that later there will be no regret.

Matt. 25:1-13, “Lord, open to us! "But he answered, 'Truly I say to you, I do not know you.‘ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”

The oil that they lacked was preparation. Many think that they will be saved without obeying the gospel or without being faithful.

Remordimiento - Regret Remordiento = morder otra vez. “Oh si hubiera o no hubiera…” Remorse = to bite again. Sin bites and then produces grief and torture in the heart. “Oh if only I had done or not done…”

Remember what I say: On being cast into Hades everyone screaming, “Oh if I had another chance.” Now they are believers! There are no unbelievers in Hades.

Phil. 2:10, 11, Every knee shall bow before Him and every tongue shall confess Him. No exceptions. But too late!

Remordimiento - Regret
