ir uses “ir” is often followed by the preposition “a”. This indicates the place to which one is going… Voy al café. (“a” and “el” are combined into one word) Voy a la tienda. Or that something is going to happen in the future. Voy a leer. (I am going to read.) Voy a estudiar. (I am going to study.)
