DOPs and IOPs can go 1 of 3 places in a sentence. BEFORE the conjugated verb Compro el libro.  Lo compro. CONNECT to the infinitive Voy a comprar el libro.  Voy a comprarlo. CONNECT to the -ndo form (participle) Estoy comprando el libro.  Estoy comprándolo. When connecting to the -ndo form, add a written accent to “á” of “ando” or “é” of “iendo.”

Indirect before direct... because people come first! When you have a DOP and an IOP together in a sentence, which goes first? Indirect before direct... because people come first! Compro el libro para tí. Te lo compro para tí. Lavo el carro para nosotros. Nos lo lavo.

When would I substitute an IOP with “se”? When the I.O.P. and the D.O.P. both start with “l, ” change the I.O.P. to “se.” Le doy la tarea a los estudiantes. Les la doy a los estudiantes.
