Lesson 8 Usage

Cerca (close) and lejos (far) are adverbs. Mis padres viven lejos. My parents live far away. Mi casa está cerca. My house is close by. El perro está cerca del gato. The dog is close to the cat. Lituania está lejos de los Estados Unidos. Lithuania is far away from The United States.

The word más with cerca and lejos to make comparisons. Lituania está más lejos que Italia. Lithuania is farther away than Italy. México está más cerca que Argentina. Mexico is closer than Argentina.

El uno del otro / la una de la otra: El uno del otro means each other or one to another. Los primos están abrazando el uno del otro. The cousins are hugging each other.
