Reflexive Verbs Reflexive verbs are used when an action reflects back on the subject. They indicate that a person is performing the action toward or for him/herself. They have an “-se” at the end of the verb. (lavarse, despertarse, etc.) Another way to think about it is when the object of the verb is the same as the subject! Ej: Yo lavo el carro. → I wash the car. (The car is the object of the verb “to wash”) Ej: Yo me lavo la cara. → I was my face. (My face is the object of the verb “to wash”)
