Nineteenth-Century Food Pyramid

Now we have eating habits arising from social and technological development in the late nineteenth century. Formerly the diets were based mainly on natural foods and commodities, obtained directly from agriculture and / or animal husbandry and fishery when these techniques were developed.

At the bottom of the pyramid of the nineteenth century, that´s what they ate more, there are bread, pasta, cereal and rice. The bread is on the bottom because it was very common and cheap so it could buy everyone.

In this part of the pyramid there are vegetables and fruit, because they grew in their garden. So, they used the agriculture.

m Here there are the food that some people could buy. There are milk, cheese, yoghurt, eggs, chicken, fish, meat, beans. These foods come from animals and therefore weren´t so expensive, and some people have got animals in their farms.

m At the top of the pyramid there are the foods that they didn´t used to eat for the price. Here there are ice-cream, oil and sweet. The price of these foods was higher, because it got more complex shapes.
