Ir + a + infinitivo en el imperfecto describe cuando una persona tenía planes, pero algo ocurrió, y la persona no hizo los planes.

Pretérito: cuando refiere a una acción completada. Iba a llamarte, pero se me olvidó. I was going to call you, but I forgot. Mis padres iban a ver la película, pero ellos llegaron tarde. My parents were going to see the movie, but they arrived late.
