EL PRETÉRITO Los Irregulares

Very Irregular verbs in the preterite: Ver Dar Ser Ir Ver and Dar are almost the same- they have different stems. Ser and Ir are conjugated exactly the same in the preterite.

The V-D verbs Ver- to see ViVimos VisteVisteis VioVieron -Vimos mucho arte en el museo. Dar- to give DiDimos DisteDisteis DioDieron -Mi amigo me dio un reglao. **These conjugations do not have any accents!

The evil twins, oh phooey! Ser- to be Fuifuimos Fuistefuisteis Fuefueron -¡Fue un día muy divertido! Ir- to go Fuifuimos Fuistefuisteis Fuefueron -Fuimos al parque el sábado. Because Ir and Ser are conjugated exactly the same in the preterite, you must use clues in the sentence to determine whether ir or ser was used.

One more irregular verb! Hacer- to do or make Hice-hicimos Hiciste-hicisteis Hizo-hicieron *The Z changes to a C in all forms except the Usted/él/ella form. This change happens to keep the s sound. ¿Qué hiciste ayer? Hice la tarea. Hice like a cat!
